Payments are not switched on. Nothing in this app can charge a card, hold a balance or move money. Any payment for a task is settled directly between you and the helper, in cash. We are not holding your money, because we cannot.
We do not run police checks and we carry no insurance. Neither is available to us under our current structure, so neither is coming soon. What we do check is set out below. We will never describe a helper as “vetted and insured”.
Who you are dealing with
Supatask is operated by ALSOF Publishing Pty Ltd (ABN 22 139 919 734), an Australian company.
We sell you the service and engage the helper as a subcontractor. We are not your agent, not the helper’s employer, and not a bank. We do not hold money on anyone’s behalf, and nothing here is escrow.
What the service is
You describe a task in Samoa. A helper offers, you choose one, and they record evidence that the work was done. You get that evidence: an arrival photo, a location fix, a PIN confirmed on the spot, and photos at the end.
We operate in Samoa only — Upolu, Savai’i and the smaller islands. American Samoa is a different country, with its own money and its own law, and it is not open: a helper there cannot yet be paid, so nobody there can sign up to work.
What we check about a helper
What we check is:
- Government photo ID. We delete the image after 30 days and keep only a hash of it.
- Two referees, telephoned by us.
- A ten-minute video call, in Samoan.
That is the whole list. We do not run criminal record checks, we do not verify qualifications, and we hold no insurance covering anything a helper does. Read that as the limit of what our checks mean.
Anyone can sign up and start offering before those are finished, so do not read a helper appearing here as a helper we have cleared. Each helper’s card says which of the three are done and which are not, and you see that before you choose anyone. The one we insist on is the ID: a helper cannot be paid until we have seen it.
Tasks that involve sustained personal contact
Tasks are split by whether the helper spends the time with somebody. A task done for a person — groceries, the yard, a bill paid — can be taken by any helper you choose. A task done with them — a visit, help around the house, a lift to the clinic — needs your explicit approval of that specific helper first.
Approving a helper applies to you only. It is not a badge, it is not visible to anyone else, and it says nothing about that helper to the next person who is choosing.
The PIN
Whoever is meeting the helper gets a four-digit PIN — you, if the task is your own. The helper asks for it when they arrive, and it is how we know they were actually there. Do not send it to the helper yourself. It never leaves our server and is never shown in the app.
Money
As above, no payment runs through this app today. When card payments are switched on, they will work like this and this page will be updated before they are: a card charged in Australian dollars, our fee taken from it, and the helper paid the rest. Local tasks settled in cash between two people in Samoa carry no fee and never will.
There is a minimum job value. It is not a number we picked — the payout rail will not send less than A$25 in a single transfer, and below the minimum the helper physically cannot be paid.
Cancelling
You may cancel a task before a helper has started. Once someone has travelled to a village on your request, treat their time as owed. If a task is cancelled after a helper has set out, settle it with them directly.
What we are responsible for
We are responsible for running this service honestly: for checking what we say we check, for showing you the evidence we collect without altering it, and for telling you plainly when something has not happened.
We are not responsible for the conduct of a helper beyond those checks, and we hold no insurance against it. If something goes wrong, tell us — we will give you everything we hold about that task, and we will remove a helper from the platform. We cannot compensate you for a loss, and you should not use this service on the assumption that we can.
Nothing here limits rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be limited.
What you post
Everything you put into Supatask stays yours: task descriptions, offers, messages, your helper card and photos. By posting it, you give ALSOF Publishing Pty Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and send it, only so Supatask can work: your task is shown to helpers; your offer and helper card are shown to the person choosing; your messages go to the other person on the task; your photos form the record of the task.
We will not use what you post to advertise, we will not sell it, and we will not train anything on it. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep to answer a dispute or because the law requires it, as the privacy page explains.
Only post what you have the right to post. Do not post photos of people who have not agreed to be photographed, other people’s personal details beyond what a task needs, or anything unlawful, abusive or misleading. We may remove content, and close accounts, that break this. A person reads every report.
Ending your account
You can stop using Supatask at any time and ask us to delete your account; see the privacy page for what happens to your data. We can suspend an account that puts someone at risk, and we will say why.
