Some of what we hold is about someone who never opens this app. Most tasks are just the task. But when a task is for another person — a relative, a neighbour, whoever you are arranging it for — you are giving us their name, their phone number, where they live and notes about their door. They have not agreed to that — you have, on their behalf. We treat that as the most sensitive thing here, and the section below says what we do about it.
Who holds this
Supatask is operated by ALSOF Publishing Pty Ltd, an Australian company. Data is stored on servers run by our hosting providers (Supabase for the database and files, Vercel for the application), outside Samoa.
What we store about you
- Your email address and the name you give us.
- The tasks you ask for: what, where, when, what you offered to pay.
- Messages between you and a helper about a task.
- Photos you attach to a task.
Someone who never opens this app
A task does not have to be for anybody but you. When it is — when you name another person the helper is going to — we store:
- Their name and their relationship to you.
- Their phone number, if you give one.
- A pin on a map, their village and district, and a landmark note. Never a street address — Samoa does not use them.
- Notes about the door: how to find them, what to expect, anything a helper needs to arrive without causing confusion.
- A four-digit PIN they hold and speak aloud.
Only name someone who would agree to it. You are telling us about another person, and you are asserting that you have the standing to do so. If they, or their family, want that removed, we will remove it on request without asking you first — write to us at the address below.
That PIN never leaves our server. It is not shown in the app, not sent to the helper, and not visible to us in the ordinary course of running the service. The helper types what they are told and the server says yes or no.
What we store about you as a helper
- Your name and your village. Never a street address, for you either.
- A photograph of your face, if you add one. It is optional, and you can change it or leave it off.
- What you write about yourself in your own words — whatever you put there, which is usually what you do, what you drive and where you get to.
- The offers you make on tasks: the message and the price you name.
- Whether we have seen a government ID and whether we have had a video call with you. These are the yes-or-no marks your card shows. There is no way to send us the document through the app yet.
- Your location at the moment you check in to a task, and the photos you take at the door and at the end.
Your card is not a public listing. It is visible to you, to a hirer once you offer on their task, to a hirer who has given you a task or approved you, and to our staff. Nobody else signed in can browse it. There is still no switch that takes it down — write to us at the address below and we will remove it, and in the meantime withdrawing your offers is what stops it reaching anyone new.
Location
We take a helper’s location once per task, when they arrive, and check it against the pin the hirer dropped. It is what turns “I went” into something either side can point at. We do not track a helper between tasks, and we do not take a hirer’s location at all.
Who can see what
- Photos of a task are private. They are reachable only through a short-lived signed link, and only by you and the helper assigned to that task — not by a helper who merely applied.
- A helper’s photograph is part of their card and reaches the same people it does — a hirer they have offered to, or who has given them a task or approved them — because choosing between two strangers is the decision it exists for. It is not browsable by everyone signed in.
- Your tasks are visible to you. Before a task is assigned, helpers see the village — never the exact pin.
- Our staff can see what is needed to run the service and to answer a complaint. Everything else is enforced by the database itself, not by policy.
How long we keep it
An ID document, if we have asked you for one outside the app: we delete the image once we have checked it. Everything else: while your account exists, and for as long afterwards as we need it to answer a dispute about a task that already happened. You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app: Account, then Delete your account. It removes your data and the details of the people you added, keeping only the record that a task took place and was paid for where we are required to. What goes and what stays. Or ask us to do it and we will.
Crash reports
If the app breaks, a technical report goes to our error-monitoring service, Sentry: which page, what failed, and the kind of phone or browser. We turn off the setting that would add your IP address or account details, and we do not send your messages. An error message can occasionally quote part of a task title, which is why we say it rather than leave it out.
What we do not do
- We do not sell data, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do not run advertising or analytics trackers in this app.
- We do not use your tasks, photos or messages to train anything.
Your rights
Ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. Ask us to correct it and we will. Ask us to delete it and we will, except where we are required to keep a record. This applies whether you are a hirer, a helper, or someone a task named.
Write to info@alsofpublishing.com.au. If we get it wrong, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
